THE ULTIMATE TT BIKES SOME OF THE MACHINES WHICH HAVE IMPRESSED US
A selection of MV Agustas. (suggested by a number of you)
The Manx Norton. (suggested by a number of you)
The Norton "Rotary" . In 1992 Steve Hislop won the TT on one of these machines.
A number of you have suggested a series of one make, this make being Yamaha who came to the TT in 1961.
In 1963 Fumio Ito came within a whisker of winning that years 250cc race even though his team-mate became the first rider to be transported to hospital by helicopter after crashing at Milntown. Ito came in a very good second to Jim Redman.
In the middle 60s Phil Read and Bill Ivy rode a grudge match even though they were team mate. Phil won one race so Bill won the next....Bill rode in 1968 125cc TT and pushed the lap record over 100mph then retired with bleeding feet after grounding them on every corner.
The most suggestions have come from the TZ brigade, who support the over-the-counter race machines and their many riders.
A few of you came up with MZ...(Motoradwerk Zshopau from the old East Germany) A machine which revolutionized two stroke racing, however after Ernst Degner, one of their works riders, defected to Suzuki, somehow Suzuki came on in leaps and bounds using Walter Kaadens technology.
